Van Gogh Museum ticket alerts: exactly what Slotwatch checks, how often, and what we never promise

What we check

We monitor ticket availability sources that permit automated access, through their official interfaces. For the Van Gogh Museum, that currently means authorised resellers that publish availability per date and entry time, including how many tickets can be bought together. The official museum shop does not offer a permitted automated interface, so we link to it in every alert but do not poll it.

We never bypass access controls, CAPTCHAs or rate limits, and we never hold tickets in a cart. If a source stops permitting access, we disable it and tell affected customers that the source is unavailable.

How often

Sources are checked on a configurable schedule, typically every 15 minutes, and less often where a provider requires it. Requests from all customers for the same dates are combined, so one check serves everyone who is waiting for that date.

What an alert contains

• Museum, date and entry time of the detected availability
• The number of tickets you asked for, and whether the source confirmed that quantity
• The provider name and a direct booking link
• The detection time in Amsterdam local time
• A reminder that tickets are not reserved and availability can change at any moment

Confirmed versus possible availability

If the provider reports that at least the number of tickets you need can be purchased together for a matching slot, the alert is marked as confirmed for your group size. If a provider only signals availability without a quantity, we mark it as possible availability. You can turn possible-availability alerts off in your dashboard.

No duplicates, no noise

We keep a history of every availability change. You receive one alert per newly detected availability for a slot, with a cooldown so that flickering inventory does not flood your inbox. If tickets disappear and reappear later, a new alert may be sent.

What we never promise

• That tickets will become available for your dates
• That you will be able to complete the booking before someone else does
